Choosing a world view right for you!

I believe in the main theistic package because it states that all the beliefs that are true in the world. These are the beliefs which makes the world have life and hope for life after death.
The seven factors that are contained in the main theistic package are
-An objective moral order
-Free will
-A soul
-Life after death
-God
-Meaning
-Bliss

The main naturalistic package is the package that i don’t believe in because all these beliefs would mean that life has no meaning and no hope. Their will be no faith and no reason to live in this life. Everything that has happened happens for no reason. The main naturalistic package is consisted of
-No objective moral order
-No free will
-No soul
-No life after death
-No God
-No meaning
-No hope
These are the things that if people believe will only cause desperation and sadness in their whole entire life. They wouldn’t have any happiness at all.
I am a believer of the theistic package that those 7 factors are true and that they exist, if they never existed, then there would be no happiness in life and the whole world wouldn’t be so competitive as it is in the present day.

1. Materialism is the belief that everything is a type of matter that exist in a material object. Materialist will believe that there are no minds or souls or immaterial spirits. Everything is a physical matter and that when things combine together will form different types of material.
2. The brain chemistry argument is mostly about how the brain and the materials around us function. Like the physical body is affected by the amount of sleep each person get. The mind affects what we think in our brain. Dualist use this to prove that the mind and the brain are a completely different thing. The materialist still are unable to prove this and can’t change a person who has already have an idea of this concept.
3. I think that his three examples help make connections with the brain chemistry argument, because he believed that the human mind is only a physical thing and that none of the soul, or spirit exists. He shows that the spiritual things doens’t exist by all the work and experiment he performed. None of his experiment had anything to do with spiritual things because all he research about was the human brain and what happens when there is a disorder. He only told us that during a brain disorder, the brain will act to the brain’s thinking.

Milgram Experiment

1 Nov

As you know, the agency theory is a theory which explains that a free act is caused by a person that a hires another person to do a certain task for them. This means that these people that were hired to do these things were not doing it according to their free will, and they were hired to do these things. The agency theory believed that every thing that has freewill will have a cause. This theory doesn’t agree to Scientific determinists and compatibilists because it both agree that the university Causality is true.

In Milgram’s experiment, the people that was helping him perform the test or the experiment were not free because they were forced to do something unaccording to their will. Milgram’s experiment is like the agency theory because the people in his experiment were the people he hired to do the experiment for him. Not only were the prisoners and the guards that were hired, there was also the teachers that would ask the prisoners questions that were hired to come. The teacher’s role was to ask the prisoners questions and if they were to answer the question wrong, they were to be electrocuted. However, the voltage of the electricity started increasing every time. Every time the voltage increased, the teacher will start to become more hesitant and started to resist the job. We can’t say that Milgram’s experiment was unethical because he only wanted to gain more knowledge about the human nature and how they react in different situations.

So, for the agency theory, i believe that not everyone has freewill and that the factor that is preventing them from having freewill is the agent that is hiring them to do different things.

The last question

I believe that freewill is something that you wish to do while determinism is something that is already determined. Free will is something which you have the ability to do and not being controlled. I believe that we are free to do anything that we want, because if we are determined, then we won’t have the ability to choose what to do. For example, we can choose whether to turn left or turn right when driving a car. Our freedom isn’t randomness because when we choose, we think first whether what to do not just going to random places without thinking. Our conscience is still with us all time in everything we choose to do.

Utilitarian View

28 Sep

1. What would the utilitarianist say about my cost-benefit analysis about school?

I believe that the utilitarianist will view the cost-benefit analysis about school as a very beneficial thing to most people because education is crucial

and it means your whole future. Your knowledge is like an asset that you invest. If you invest early, the benefits will increase more and more. I believe that it bring both pleasure and pain. It brings pleasure by you yourself knowing that you will have a future a head of you. Although this is intangible but it will also allow you to have friends and have alot of good memories. It brings pain in the fact that it makes us very tiresome and causes us to be stressed out alot of times.

2. Objections utilitarianist can have on placing dollar value on everything?

I don’t really believe that the utilitarianist will have an objection on placing a dollar value on everything because there job is to whether the things that are occuring are bring pleasure or pain to the majorities. Instead, the utilitarianist will put a value on intangible things such as the memories, or friendships. By putting a dollar value on this, it will cause the utilitarianist to be able to know the difference between pain and pleasure of different things.

In the face of death

I believe that Tom dudly wasn’t supposed to kill the boy because his life is as meaningful as Tom Dudly. Not everyone deserves to die. In Dr.Adina’s case, i believe it was justified in his actions because dying peacefully is better than having somebody shooting you. What he did was to put their lives out of misery in a peaceful eternal sleep. In the locomotives story, i think that Tom was worried and doesn’t know what to do and who to save because the choices was to either let the train run over you and 2 other friends or let the other live. Of course he would have to favor his live and switch the train to track B. He killed 1 man but saved 2. If he had a better choice like to save everyone would be better. What I’m saying about these 3 stories is not that they are greedy or inhuman but whether to judge who should die and live shouldn’t be a decision that they should have because everyone favor their lives.
